The Top 3 YouTube Mistakes New Course Creators Make

tips/mistakes

Today I want to share the three most common mistakes I see course creators making on YouTube, because fixing even one of these can make a real difference to your results.

Mistake #1 — Your link is buried in your description

This is the easiest fix but it has the biggest effect on your conversions.

Most people put their link halfway down their description where nobody sees it.

Instead, put an attractive headline for your offer or lead magnet on the first line of your description and your link on the second.

Think of that headline like the one at the top of your sales page. It needs to tell people the result they will get in a compelling way.

If you have videos on your channel right now, go and fix this today.

It takes five minutes and it will immediately improve your chances of turning viewers into customers.

Mistake #2 — Your channel isn't built around one core problem

This one stops YouTube from showing your videos and kills trust with your audience.

What happens with a lot of course creators is that they make videos about whatever they feel like that week.

One video is about their product, the next is about mindset, the next is something random.

Individually those videos might be fine but collectively they don't mean anything.

YouTube won't know who to show your videos to. And your viewers won't know why they should subscribe to you.

You need a clear problem that your channel exists to solve then every video should move someone one step closer to solving that problem.

When you get this right, growth becomes predictable instead of random.

Mistake #3 — Your videos are dead ends

Most course creators make a video, help the viewer and then just end it.

From YouTube's point of view that's a dead end.
From your business's point of view it's a missed opportunity.

Every video should lead to another.

Ask yourself what the next logical problem this person will have after watching and send them to a video that solves that.

When you do this, one view turns into two or three. A casual viewer turns into someone who trusts you enough to buy.

I made a video recently that goes deeper on all three of these mistakes if you want to see them in action.
